Carafe Wine Makers of Chesapeake, Virginia’s first micro-winery recently had the honor of supplying 500 bottles of custom wine to toast the retirement of the celebrated F-14 Tomcat Fighter. The Tomcat Sunset Committee, a nonprofit, nonfederal entity established to plan and execute the farewell ceremonies for the F-14 is chaired by Rear Admiral Fred Lewis, USN (Ret) and includes retired military and industry representatives associated with the Tomcat legacy. The committee is pleased to report that both the sold out event and the wine were a huge hit. The weekend-long event was intended to, “Foster and promote knowledge on the part of the general public concerning naval aviation in general and the F-14 Tomcat in particular.” (PRWEB Oct 1, 2006)
